Stop Trying To Fix Your Business
The number one mistake I see entrepreneurs and business owners make when things aren’t going well in their business is trying to strategically figure it out. They look at the numbers, they review the past month sales, they go over their marketing again and again, and after time adjust their avatar. What ends up happening is that they continue to waste time, month after month, but they never seem to make the changes that are necessary because nothing shifts the way they want it to.
The numbers continue to fall, they continue to struggle and things can most often get worse.
I’ve met people who have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix their business with everything that the experts have thrown at them. The problem is that their business doesn’t actually need to be fix. Not yet anyway. What needs to be fixed is them.
That’s right, they are the biggest reason their business is failing.
No, it’s not the lack of passion, although it can be. It’s not the fact that they don’t know how to run a business as they get proof of that when the experts walk in. It’s not their lack of time or commitment as most often people tend to spend more and more time in their business when it’s not doing well.
The biggest thing I find is that they don’t work on themselves. They don’t do the inside work.
Now I know there are some of you who are saying “UGGHHHHH How many times can we do the inside work? When does it end?”
And that’s a reasonable question.
Inside work never really ends. As you grow, the inside work shows up, you work through it, and then you grow again and the pattern continues.
Now doing the inside work is most often about understanding what your limiting beliefs are, what’s holding you back, and what’s contributing to your desire to stay small and stuck. Those are all so important for you success, but I’m not even really talking about all of that here. I’ll save that for another post.
The inner work I’m talking about here is all about DISCOVERY!
It’s about discovering who you are on a soul level. It’s about uncovering what your natural abilities are and how you can use them to best enhance your business. It’s about taping into all you personally have to offer towards your business and your clients. It’s about discovering what brings you passion and what exactly makes you unique and special and different from everyone else.
Most often people don’t look deep inside of themselves for fear of what they might find. But digging deep and realizing your uniqueness brings out an entirely different kind of fear in people.
What I see happen is people shrink away from who they really are. They down play their abilities and they don’t embrace all they have to offer people. They can’t even begin to image just how important what they have to offer can be to others.
Most people are raised to think that there is nothing special about themselves. They are told to stop being selfish and that “the world doesn’t revolve around them.” When people hear this over and over again, what they tend to do is hide who they really are and what makes them unique. All this does is deprive the world of all they have to offer it.
The way that you can really show up big, really begin to make the impact you are meant to, and begin to grow your business is by embracing all that you are.
So how do you do this? Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to really get your mind discovering who you are.
- What is something you are really good at?
- What do you have passion for that really lights you up and gets your heart pumping?
- What do other people always say you’re really good at?
- What do you find yourself going back to read, watch or explore over and over again?
- What is something you really want to know more about?
- What is something others come to you for advice and information about?
If you have trouble answering these questions than I encourage you to reach out to your closest friends and family. The people who love you the most and the people you are most comfortable with, have the ability to see the real you. They see the you that you let out when you aren’t worried about being judged. They see the you that no longer worries about embarrassing yourself and allows your true self to lead your actions and your words.
What most people fail to realize is that they are the biggest asset that their business has. They are the missing piece that is needed to really grow beyond were they are now. They have the abilities that need to be implemented into their everyday work so that their company stands out and becomes all it is meant to be.
So ask yourself, are you being Truly You?
I agree completely–Doing the work from the inside out produces amazing results!
